Adult Individual
The complicated years of adulthood are loaded with stress, relationship and work issues, and the many pressures of life. Stress and pressure can wear away at even the most resilient person. Special circumstances such as a divorce or break up, death of a loved one, moving, or other stressors can make our usual ways of coping insufficient. Symptoms of depression and anxiety can appear over time and inappropriate coping methods such as alcohol abuse, over or under eating, and excessive or deficient sleeping can present. I am focused on how to help adults set and meet their goals in order to overcome any barriers in the way of their personal and professional success.
Couples
Relationships need nurturing. Some couples choose therapy to enhance or enrich their relationship, even when things are going well. Other couples choose therapy when they are having difficulties. Couples counseling promotes love, acceptance, and better communication. I focus on helping couples take their relationships to a healthier level.
Family
All families go through periods of conflict and stress. Family therapy works on improving communication and allowing every member's voice to be heard. Each family member works on understanding and accepting one another. Sometimes one member of the family is struggling with a medical, emotional, or behavioral problem. The family can work together to better understand what the family member is going through and how everybody can support one another to have a happy, healthy family. My role is to help you stay objective and learn the ways each member can contribute to a healthier family system.
Teens
The teen years are often the most difficult in the life cycle. Many life changes are occurring and teens are trying to enjoy the present and plan for their futures. During these vulnerable ages, depression, anger, anxiety, eating issues, school problems or relationship issues may arise. Often a teenager will feel alone and misunderstood. When teens become frustrated or overwhelmed, they sometimes don’t make the best choices and push loved ones away. I work with teenagers to end cycles of frustration, take a fresh look at themselves, and find the happiness they deserve.
Group
Group therapy can be an important addition to one’s individual therapy. The support and help one can get from being a member of a therapeutic group is invaluable. I offer a variety of groups and often work with a co-therapist. Topics range from grief, divorce, coping with a mental illness to more general support groups.
